A WORD FROM THE FOUNDER

“You might be asking yourself, “Does she know that she spelled the word alien wrong?” The answer is, as a professional writer, I’d sure hope so! The word ALEIN is actually a combination of my first initial (A) and middle name (Lein)—also known as my mother’s first name. But, it goes a bit deeper than an on-the-nose reference to some type of extraterrestrial. On one end, it’s partly about paying homage to a very important figure in my life (my mother) but on the other, it also references the cultural Chinese roots that the name stems from.

Lein is a transliteration of a Chinese surname, meaning to link, join, or connect, and when I reflect on my career, I’ve often filled the role of “the missing link” in many of my collaborations.

I’m honored to have been repeatedly told, of course with slight variation from the client, that I’ve been able to put into words what often can’t be explained, or get a job done when no one else understands the task at hand. Being entrusted with another person’s creative vision and bringing it to life is a privilege that I don’t take lightly, and I enjoy getting to do that for my clients every day.

With that said, Alein Creative is the embodiment of this idea: the missing link, or rather, the place that you can go to for creative services when it seems like no one on Earth understands. And since a great deal of the work that I do is either private, behind the scenes, or ghostwritten for others, I often do feel like an alien-like figure who can’t fully share details of the projects I work on.

Now, the color palette of this site is quite special to me because when I was younger, I enjoyed visiting home improvement stores to collect paint swatches. I had no need for them since I wasn’t planning on painting any rooms, nor was I allowed to at that age, but I was fascinated by the different color names and shades. After I found the perfect combo, I would go home, grab my decorative craft scissors and mold the swatches into different animal or abstract shapes. I’d even write poetry on the swatches and tape them to my notebooks, or really anywhere I could. Was I an odd child? Maybe.

But, as I reflect on that time of my life, it marked the most creative freedom I’ve ever experienced. I didn’t have anyone telling me I was doing it the wrong way or that I needed to create something that other consumers would like. I simply did whatever my creative brain signaled and executed it with ease.

Since starting Alein Creative, I’ve been brought back to a similar place of creativity for the first time in a minute. It has jump started a renewed sense of excitement to bring my creative skills, as well as that of other collaborators whom I’ve highly vetted, to the forefront.

So, when you check out our color-coded “Services” page, I’d ask you to rid yourself of the built up pressure that life has thrown your way and tell us what YOU want to create together.

Meet us over on the contact page and let us know which color service best fits your needs and we’ll get it done. We look forward to collaborating and creating together, and most importantly, thank you for your business!”
